Dommaraju Gukesh known as D. Gukesh is India’s most prominent and well-known chess player. He was born on May 29, 2006, in Chennai.

He became a Grandmaster at the age of 12 years, and in 2019, he was second-youngest Grandmaster in history by the time. His quick ascent in chess has drown attention of everyone and he has unique style often characterized by sharp moves, strategic depth, and he has fearless approach in the game
He made his position into the top 10 global ranking in 2023. He also surpassed legendary chess player Viswanathan Anand in live rating. He set different milestones for Indian chess.

Gukesh D has turned 18 now and has reached a historic milestone by qualifying to challenge Ding Liren in the 2024 World Chess Championship. He earned this opportunity by proving himself winning the Candidate’s Tournament on April 24. He set a new record as the youngest winner of the tournament. This achievement boosted his rapid rise in the world of Chess, wherein he is consistently performing at a high level, particularly in rapid and attacking format. The championship match is going to happen on November 25, 2024, in a 14 game series which will last until December 13. With potential tiebreak it call last till December 14.
Moreover, D.Gukesh along with his fellow Arjun Erigaisi who is also Grandmaster recently achieved a spot in the top 5 of the FIDE world rankings. This is a huge achievement, as it underscores the prominence of young Indian players on the global stage.
